PEMC’s new portable scanning electron microscope and technicians on site
A fully functional scanning electron microscope (SEM) will be on site and available for our tenants to use. The microscope also has energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) capability to analyse & map a sample’s elemental composition.
Samples need to be dry -as it operates under vacuum- and conductive samples are preferable, but we can use a variable pressure mode to compensate for non-conductive samples (though the secondary electron detector won’t be available).
Ideally samples need to be smaller than around 30mm in diameter to fit in the sample holder too.
