Plymouth Science Park welcomes new Digital Applications Engineer Benjamin Larsen, bringing experience in additive manufacturing and robotics to the team.
Benjamin Larsen’s journey with Plymouth Science Park began with a six-week internship, during which he quickly impressed the team with his technical skills. Benjamin has had a keen interest in additive manufacturing since he was young, investing in his own 3D printers to develop projects outside of school.
Benjamin completed a BEng in Robotics at the University of Plymouth in 2021. His final year project involved the utilisation of a resin-based printer to design a unique screw-propelled submersible vehicle.
Eager to explore the industrial side of additive manufacturing, Benjamin secured an internship at the Park to build upon his knowledge and experience using the Park’s advanced printing capabilities.
In his new role, Benjamin will be working closely with Jacques Wood, the Park’s Senior Digital Applications Engineer, to actively support SMEs by providing guidance and insight into the Park’s extensive additive manufacturing capabilities and how they can benefit organisatoins.
Benjamin said: “I am excited to be part of the Plymouth Science Park team, working alongside industry experts to develop my experience in additive manufacturing technologies and industry advancements. I look forward to leveraging the Park’s state-of-the-art printers, gaining experience in the complete additive manufacturing process, and supporting SMEs to develop new and exciting projects.”
Ian McFadzen, CEO at Plymouth Science Park, said: “We are thrilled to have Benjamin Larsen join our team. His passion for additive manufacturing, combined with his technical prowess, will undoubtedly be a valuable asset as we continue to push the boundaries of digital applications. Benjamin’s dedication and expertise will enhance our ability to provide innovative solutions and drive growth for our clients.”
With Benjamin Larsen’s arrival, Plymouth Science Park strengthens its commitment to advancing its additive manufacturing offering and supporting SMEs in their pursuit of technological innovation.
