3 month internships between October – December 2022
Closing date for applications is midnight Tuesday 23 August 2022
The Future Shift Internship and Leadership Programme is a 3-month paid internship opportunity placing current students or recent graduates of the University of Plymouth within Devon enterprises to work on a low carbon project.
The internship programme provides invaluable support for Devon-based enterprises combined with practical work experience and leadership development for current students and recent graduates. This will allow local organisations to deliver a low carbon project, develop or implement a new low carbon idea, product or service, and/or reduce their carbon emissions.
The innovative leadership component will comprise of change-leadership and personal development workshops for the interns to enable them to become future-fit as change-makers, leaders and role models of a low carbon society. These weekly 1-hour workshops will focus on developing the skills and tools combined with the inspiration, confidence and ability to facilitate compassionate and proactive change to tackle the climate emergency. They will be framed using the Plymouth Compass leadership tool.
Chris Woodfield, the project’s Knowledge Exchange Officer tells us “we’re proud to watch these University of Plymouth students and graduates take their knowledge from their degree programmes and put it into action to support the Devon business community, whilst leading the way in sustainable and civic change.” Chris explains that the internship programme is about so much more than practical and professional experience. “The Future Shift internship programme is a curated shared learning experience with access to unique development and change-leadership sessions. These sessions are designed to empower today’s future leaders and role models of a low carbon society.”
