Do you have an idea that would help your business or organisation to move forward in the COVID-19 era, but lack the resources in-house to make it happen? With many organisations moving to embrace new ways of working as a result of the ongoing situation presented by COVID-19, our internships offer a platform through which our students are able to demonstrate and develop their capabilities, whilst providing much needed additional capacity to organisations operating across the region.
The School of Society and Culture Virtual Internship Scheme will see current students working on short term projects supporting local organisations and communities.
Interns working on projects will be paid at a standard rate of £13/hour, up to a maximum of 38 hours per project (£494), which will be funded by the School of Society and Culture and supported by iMayflower.
These students specialise in:
• English, creative writing, music and performance
• History, art history, politics and international relations
• Law
• Criminology, sociology and anthropology
And have a wide range of skills including:
• socially minded and conscientious
• reflective
• collaborative
• analysis and critical thinking
• problem solving
• information management: collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting evidence
• written, verbal, visual and creative communication
• independent, self-directed learners
Example projects could include:
• Issue based internship: Researching and developing an awareness raising campaign
• Events based internship: Organising, managing and publicising community events
• Knowledge and training based internship: Research and creating training
• Communications internship: Assessing existing and drafting new promotional content
• Fundraising internship: Identifying funding sources, drafting action plans for achieving funding goals, or focusing on bid writing
• Social media internship: Analysing social media opportunities and creating content

A maximum of 30 individual projects can be supported. Applications will be accepted until 31st January 2022, with projects due to commence from March 2022. All projects must be completed by 30th June 2022. Funding will be withdrawn when the maximum allocation has been reached.
